Our commitment to sustainable development and tackling climate change

At Humana Europe we are committed to the implementation of an effective environmental management system that will not only reduce the impact of the organisation’s activities on the environment but also increase our efficiency and effectiveness.

Humana Europe recognises that its day-to-day operations have an impact on the environment and so in all our activities, working practices and business relationships, we are committed to continual improvement and prevention of pollution protecting, conserving and enhancing all aspects of the environment over which we have control or can influence.  We are also committed to meet all relevant environmental legislation and regulations and other requirements to which the organisation subscribes.

As part of our environmental policy we will:

  • reduce energy consumption;
  • raise awareness and encourage our staff to engage in responsible environmental practices;
  • minimise waste and recycle where possible;
  • reduce paper usage through waste minimisation practices;
  • review business travel, and reduce this where practical in the future;
  • consider alternatives to business travel;
  • ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation and regulations;
  • monitor and improve our environmental performance.

To ensure implementation of this Policy we will:

  • increase staff awareness through active promotion, training and development;
  • reduce paper usage by 25% in the first year of implementing this Policy and recycling at least 50% of all office waste on an ongoing basis;
  • reduce energy usage through increased equipment switch-off;
  • include environmental and sustainability considerations within our procurement decision-making and inform our suppliers and contractors of our commitment when providing goods and services;
  • review this policy and its effectiveness on an annual basis to review environmental objectives and targets.
