Dr. Jack  LordDr. Jack Lord, Chief Innovation Officer and Chief Executive

Jonathan T. Lord, M.D., joined Humana in 2000 as its senior vice president and chief medical officer. In his current role, Dr. Lord is leading Humana Europe in the UK to provide effective commissioning services to the NHS in England.

With 16 years experience in medical administration, Dr. Lord is also leading Humana's transformation into the most e-enabled health solutions company. He came to Humana from Health Dialog, a Boston-based Internet provider of health information to more than 5 million Americans, where he served as president and became a leader in e-enabled health care. Prior to joining Health Dialog, he served as chief operating officer of the American Hospital Association in Washington, DC, executive vice president of Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Md., and executive vice president of Sun Health in Charlotte, North Carolina.

A board-certified forensic pathologist, Dr. Lord has 21 years experience in medical practice. He began his medical career in the US Navy, where he spent 11 years on active duty, most recently as director of the Naval Medical Command’s Quality Assurance Division in the Office of the Surgeon General. He also served as a consultant and surveyor for the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organisations. In 2001, Lord was named president of the Disease Management Association of America (DMAA), a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to changing the way America manages long-term illness. Since its founding in 1999, it has become an important catalyst for change in healthcare delivery in the United States. Dr Lord also spent three years on the National Advisory Council for Healthcare Research and Quality - becoming one of only 21 health care leaders lending advice to the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Dr. Lord received his medical degree from the University of Miami in 1978. He has received numerous academic appointments in his career, most recently as an adjunct professor of community and family medicine at Dartmouth Medical College.

Ray Daub Ray Daub, Managing Director

Ray Daub is Managing Director of Humana Europe and is directing the UK team to provide effective commissioning services to the NHS in England.

Mr Daub has led the Medicare and Commercial Premium Billing Organisation in the US with approximately $14 billion in premium revenue. He created and sustained a 5-Year Operating Plan while monitoring a budget of approximately $725 million in operating expenses and $90 million in capital investment. He also maintained control over all computer and telecommunication assets (net book value of approximately $170 million). Mr. Daub was responsible for the negotiation and administration of approximately 1,000 Information Technology contracts (annual average of 500 contracts/projects with a value of $74 million).

Mr. Daub holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Louisville.

Rosemary Protheroe, HR Director

Rosemary Protheroe is Humana Europe’s Human Resources Director. She has a human resources, organisational development, employee relations and marketing background working for both public and private sector organisations including Unisys, South Pacific, Industrial Research, Contact Energy, and NACAB. She has held a number of HR Director positions In the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Most recently, Rosemary worked as an independent HR consultant supporting businesses in the UK.

Todd Ray Todd Ray, Finance Director

Mr. Todd Ray is Finance Director of Humana in the UK. He has been actively employed within the healthcare industry by Humana for over 10 years, in positions ranging from Finance, IT, HR, and Business Development.

Mr. Ray has extensive experience in Process Design, Process Improvement, Applications Design, and Financial Modelling and is also a certified Six Sigma process consultant.

Mr. Ray holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Computer Information Systems, and a Masters in Business Administration with a Healthcare Concentration, both from the University of Louisville.

Leyan Phillips Leyan Phillips, Marketing & Communications Director

Leyan is a marketing and communications specialist with more than 15 years' branding, advertising, marketing, research and CRM experience in the UK and Asian markets. He has previously worked in senior management roles for global brands such as Vodafone and Harrods, and spent five years in Tokyo on the agency side operating in the financial services, IT and automotive sectors. Pursuing his passion for food, he co-founded the first conveyor-belt sushi bar chain in the UK in 1994. Leyan holds a Masters Degree in Oriental Studies (Japanese) from Cambridge University.

Leyan was recently inducted into the CorpComms 100 Club, an organisation which recognises the top performing corporate communicators in the UK.

Since joining Humana in September 2006, he has led the design, development and implementation of Humana’s communications and engagement services.

Dr. Ramu KannanDr. Ramu Kannan, IT Director

Dr. Kannan is IT Director for Humana Europe.

Dr. Kannan has been with Humana for 5 years and is a Director of IT at Humana currently in-charge of Information Architecture & Design. Ramu chairs the Architecture Review Board at Humana. He has helped design many applications using varied technologies over a period of 20 years.

Prior to joining Humana, Ramu was the CTO at two software companies that built healthcare related software systems. He has a PhD in Information Systems from Syracuse University.

Erik EakerErik Eaker, Operations Director

In 2006, taking a secondment from his post as Humana's International Business Development Director, Erik worked with the Commissioning Directorate in England's Department of Health and assisted the Director General of Commissioning in amplifying the functions, aims, and key actions for the new directorate to the NHS leadership. Prior to that post, he conducted business development activities throughout Europe and Asia.

As Humana's previous Director of Product Innovation and eHealth, Erik managed the development and implementation of an array of new programmes and services offered to members through its website, voice application technology and secured messaging systems. Prior to joining Humana in 2000, Erik developed and implemented health programmes and services to enhance the health of members of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. He also designed health programmes as a Peace Corps volunteer while living and working in a small island community in the Philippines.

Erik earned a Bachelors Degree in Public Health in 1994 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration with a focus on international health from that same institution in 1997.
